ESQ by Movado - A talented watch by a great company
I was unresolved to purchase an ESQ watch due to my believing it was less than a standard Movado. Why would my favorite watch company need to fabricate a sub-brand? My wife, however, convinced me to try this particular ESQ watch and I had to admit that I was wrong about my assertion that this was "less than a Movado".The leather attribute is top notch, which was a huge deal for me. I tried on one of the less expensive ESQ watches with a leather band and that one did give the impression a little cheap, although it is also their cheapest watch, so I was not expecting much from this one. Okay In Every Way..
I selected this ESQ Signal fire Chronograph from an assortment of available watches available as part of a 40 year Service Prize from my place of employment. I've always been a watch person and regularly looked for new watches until my Dear One gave me a Rolex some 20 years ago. Big, no-crap, watch good for Tux's or T's.
I bought this shield a little over 6 months ago. I was very fortunate and bought it through a retailer using a 50% off coupon - so managed to pick it up for $275. I theretofore owned a Maverick II from Swiss Army and while that watch had the right aesthetic idea, I found it's develop quality lacking. This ESQ is to the Swiss Army what Arnold was to DeVito in Twins...(1980's cinema?) Anyway, point is it's robust. It wears like a tank, though you get accustomed to it, and gives you the confidence that you're wearing a era piece that will last.I needed a watch I could wear regardless of how formal I was dressed. As a wedding photographer I oftentimes dress "up" for events and I wanted a watch that I could wear either while photographing nature, or at a formal in any case. It's one of the most attractive "tough" watches I've seen.This watch features a sliding rule faculties which I'm only now learning to use... but it could come in handy for those who remember how to use this...

I adulation this watch. I was looking at Tags and Omegas but just couldn't justify paying a rugged price right now. I think this is a very good compromise with comparable styling, robust deem, size and function. Like the previous posts this is a very large watch but bigger is sick right now. Very precise watch
This be prepared is striking...another reviewer pointed out that it looks better in person than in the pictures and that is absolutely verifiable.Having said that, its not a small watch. If you're a big person (I am, so don't think I'm casting aspersions), it will look huge on your wrist. But a word of caution: the watch is too big to fit in dress shirt cuffs, particularly if you abrasion french cuffs with cufflinks. I've taken to wearing this watch in evenings and on weekends where it is not an difficulty. But I can't wear to work most days.
Marvellous timepiece, but not for small wrists!
I have to say, I angel this very nice timepiece. The watch is beautiful and looks better in person than in pictures. However, I bought this as a donation. Unfortunately, the watch on the smallest sizing hole was still too big for the receiver of this gift. I went to a Movado department store and they said they cannot do anything to alter the silicon band. I called and visited several watch stores and state shops, all with the same answers. I finally called Movado, and they were also unable to offer a solution. You possibly could succeed the band with a metal version that comes in their rounder version of this watch. However, with the square physiognomy and look of this watch, it just wouldn't look right (and not to mention they weren't even assured it would fit!).So in short, it's a beautiful watch - I ended up keeping it for myself rather than returning it (I'm not too sad about that) but of course had to find a new gift for my pen-pal.
