Second-rate, but works perfectly.
I got this to keep my Rolex slash when I went on vacation. I have a knock-around watch I use when I am out of the country and I know it is bad to let a self-winding accompany stop as the oil pools and other bad things can happen.I was a little concerned because it was so cheap, but when I got it and tried it out it was finished. They do recommend getting a power timer and having it only run 4 hours a day to keep it from overwinding . . . since one of those retailer times are less than $5, not a big deal. To get one that was completely automatic would have cost 3 times what this one does.It is in toto silent, so you could have it in your bedroom. It only goes one direction, either clock-wise or counter. I consulted with my Rolex superb and he said either would work . . . also said that it was impossible to overwind any Rolex made after 1972 as they put in a safety system that stops it from winding more than the existence can take.This is a good buy.

There are unquestionably better watch winders on the market
I needed a separate automatic watch winder and didn't want to spend a lot. This fit the bill in that regard. However, it's performance is top-heavy. I have to fiddle with the plug every time I put the watch in it to make sure it runs. If I don't, there's a good unplanned it's not going to work right. I would spend a little more and get a different automatic watch winder unless you like having to memorialize to play with the plug every day.

Cheap and quiet
It's very misleading that this upshot be described as "burl wood" when it's really 100% plastic. Not a bit of wood in there. Looks like fake, feels like plastic, thin and inexpensive. However, the thing works, it is almost silent (few winders, regardless of prize, can claim that) and has several programs to choose from. If it lasts, then I'll be happy. I do wish that Amazon would be more accurate in their metaphors though.

This is an Nonpareil value. Just do the research. A DUAL watch winder with four-mode setting for $60 of this importance. Hard, if not impossible to find. I needed the counter-clockwise setting. There is one and that's all I needed.

Brobdingnagian price...Great watch winder
I recieved this shield winder from Amazon awhile back and can't believe how quiet it is. I have to put my ear right next to the winder to hear it run. I have two robot-like watches and could not have made a better choice on the looks of the wood and the price. Let your fears fad away on this low-cost winder. I would put this winder up against winders that cost hundreds of dollars.....Thanks Amazon and Diplomat.

Skilled winder for the money - and display, to boot!
I have a tally of automatic watches and multi-winders in which they're stored when not worn. However, my prize is the Rolex Datejust SS & Gold bars watch my late father wore. While it is too precious to wear except on very special occasions, I did not hunger it locked away in a big cabinet with all of the others. This handy winder with the viewport was the perfect answer.It sits proudly on my credenza in my bone up on, so that I can see the watch whenever I want - and the wonderful memories it evokes. True, it does make a miniature sound when rotating. However, for me it is a reminder to let my gaze wonder over to the watch, so the "noise" - such as it is - is a honorarium.The slow speed of the winder and the automatic "1-hour-on-and-3-hours-off" helps keep against overwinding. The choice of "clockwise" or "anti-clockwise" rotation is important - some automatics will not load of old cobblers but one direction. Works, until it doesn't. If you can solder... it's a guard.
Had this winder for about two years. It stopped working after about a year, and I memories that was it - get what you pay for. But I refused to buy a 2nd one, or a more expensive one. So I opened it up (to seemingly find nothing wrong), smacked it around and left it in the garage ("dog abode") for a month, and it started working again... for a few months, then it didn't, again. Finally, I thought I had nothing else to displace, so I opened it up again. This time I saw the problem. The control chip had one of the wires that were soldered to it that was gradually impending off. This time, it had completely broken off, and wasn't connected to the solder point. The wires are breakable, but whatever. I re-stripped the wire, soldered it back on, and now it's working like new again. Until, I imagine, the internal movements provoke something else to wear down.

Significant BUY
I own six diplomat winders including this ungenerous gem. It spins a 270 gram watch with no difficulty. I have had mine for four months and keep it near my bed. The movement is soundless and runs like a champ. I have had fit success with the diplomat brand of winders as oppossed to the problems some have had with the more expensive brands. A remarkable piece of furniture this is not. It just does the job of keeping your watches wound. Watches with a max keep width of 26mm and 50mm case width should fit.
