Seiko offers two almost identical versions of a mechanical "military" watch:The SNK809 (which is black, but there are other colors). This has a 21 gem movement (generally the 7S26B, but the earlier models have the 7S26). It has a 36mm case (excluding the crown) and18mm to the utmost band.The other model is the lager SNZG15 (which is black, but there are other colors). This has a 23 gem movement (generally the 7S36B, but earlier models have the 7S36). It has a 40mm case (excluding crown) and an 22mm merge.Both of these watches are gray market. You won't see them for sale in US stores.I've owned my SNK809 for several months and infatuation it. Its very accurate for the price. Mine gains about 5 sec/day. You'll have to spend a lot of money to do better than that in the mechanical watch period.Two of my friends own the SNZG15, and they seem to gain about 10 sec/day. Middling Entry Level Automatic
This is a precise little entry level automatic watch. Upon opening the box it came in the first thing I noticed was the largeness of the watch itself and the band. The watch itself is somewhat small but not too bad. its slightly larger than a quarter. The line however is much smaller than I expected. I have tiny wrists so It doesn't bother me too much but someone with a larger wrist may find it odd looking; it's in the end just preference and shouldn't make or break the deal as the band can easily be swapped out. The babysit for has a nice heavy weight to it and doesn't feel cheap like some other larger automatics I have. One peculiar thing I noticed right away when I picked up my watch was that the weight that spins the mainspring slides against the national of the watch as I move it. So I can feel the weight as it moves around. This doesn't bother me but I hope its normal and doesn't mingy I got a faulty watch. OK value and features
I've had this circumspect for a few years. As others have noted, it runs a little fast -- seems like a few minutes every week or so. In all likelihood not bad at this price point, but it kind of defeats my purpose in getting an automatic watch, which was to not have to harass about the watch -- no winding, no battery, it just works. Instead, I have to constantly reprove it.The other negative for me is the feeling of vibration when it gets moved around -- maybe it is some kind of internal postponement to provide shock resistance, but it feels and sounds a little cheap. It's a kind of buzzy clack, signally when the watch is moved perpendicular to the face.On the plus side, it looks nice, I enjoy having the day and appointment, the glass back is cool, and it way exceeded its advertised water resistance for me: I forgot to take it off when I went pitching to 45 feet, and it has worked perfectly with no fogging or other signs of trouble since then. Ritzy Watch!
I have been looking for a peak quality automatic watch for a long time and I feel this is it. The watch case is varnished to a high level and I feel I have a high quality movement that is well engineered and adjusted but I have not paid for exotic cosmetic finishing of the movement. The watch face is very sharp and informative. I have even received comments from m who discovered it on my wrist as well as a watch retailer trying to sell me a Swiss brand of impulsive. They gave up when they knew it was a Seiko as they seemed to realize what they had would not compare and it didn't. I am very satisfied with my purchase and am waiting for Seiko to add an mutually accurate and attractive moon phase display to this movement in the near future. I am waiting!Richard

Purchased this be on the watch about 6 months ago and couldn't be happier. I usually change out watches every 10 years or so and like to get a higher prominence $400-600 watch that will last and still look good after a decade. This is a 42mm watch which is as big as i am comfortable wearing and it keeps in days of yore very acurately. Can go about 60 hours without any movement/wearing before it stops, but who would want to be without it for that long?

Acute Watch, compliments come easy!
I deep down like this watch. I was worried when I purchased it as I'm a fairly thin guy and I thought it would make my arm look smaller than it already is but it looks arrant. This watch is fairly heavy but I hardely notice it. Keep in mind I like the feel of a upsetting/thick watch. I'm not impressed with its ability to maintain time as I always find it a few minutes off but this is the first mechanical watch I've ever owned. All-in-all I'm very in seventh heaven with my purchase and recommend this watch if you like being complimented by everyone you meet = )
