It was at the 1986 Basel Unprejudiced that SEIKO unveiled its first Kinetic prototype. Introduced under the trial name of 'AGM', it was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical verve. It was the first step in a development that, 20 years later, has made Kinetic synonymous with environmental friendliness, euphoric performance and long-lasting convenience to a generation of users worldwide. From the launch in 1988 of the first commercially ready watch (then under the new name AGS) until today, over eight million Kinetic watches have been sold (as of 2007).

Mind - Not the entire package!!
The SLQ021 is a meagre edition Seiko watch. IT SHOULD come with an authentic F1 Honda Racing gear ratio wheel AND a reduced edition Seiko box that can fit both on display. The price is not much cheaper than the outlet stores that offer this SAME watch WITH the lie of what SHOULD come with it. This seller ALSO doesn't mention a 3 year warranty that came with the watch. Presumably sitting in the attic/basement for years before deciding to sell it. Save yourself the trouble and go to one of the outlets and get the genuine thing...THE ENTIRE real thing.-Seiko Enthusiast

Radiant watch!
I reminiscences this watch looked good in the online photos, but when you open the box it is absolutely beautiful! I have had a gold ingots tone men's Seiko watch with a black face for at least fifteen years, but the process of having to replace batteries every year had resulted in some damage of integrity to the case seal and I decided it was time to replace it. This one appealed to me because of the kinetic feature, as well as advent and also presently available at a very good price (I paid $216). The clear case back allows you to see the pendulum that spins to recharge the kinetic power chamber, and that looks pretty cool! Both the case and band are coated with a TiCN material that looks like urbane black ceramic, absolutely stunning in contrast with the gold bezel. I just expectation it lasts as long as my previous Seiko...
Run-of-the-mill Seiko, great value for the money
My spouse and kids got this for me as a birthday present. I haven't worn a dress watch much in years. I got habituated to to using a Timex Ironman for running and the damned things are so cheap, accurate, rough-and-ready, and functional I just stopped using anything else. I have a Casio Pathfinder with altimeter, temp, and compass but that preoccupation is so huge I wonder what the hell I was thinking when I bought it. And I will admit there are times when a watch with a synthetic band and case are not the best choice. I also have an ultra thin Seiko rectangular dress watch with a leather bandeau from the mid-eighties that's still working like new. So, when I mentioned a dress watch, my wife thought Seiko first. I bought her a Seiko Deadly Ion finish watch at Christmas to go with a set of black pearl earrings and necklace. So she bought me this safeguard to match six months later. I think the Seiko Kinetic is very cool. You get the accuracy and toughness of a quartz shift (which Seiko does very well) combined...

For detail and attractive
I've now had the be on the watch about three weeks and it has lost about 1/2 of a second in that time, which is well within the 15 seconds per month mentioned in the undertaking.The ion plated finish is beautiful. It is dressier than watches I usually wear. I will be removing it before working on the car or digging in the yard.The self charging countenance works well. Movement during shipping had charged the watch up to a one month reserve, as indicated by the power taciturnity indicator. It was charged to the full 4 to 6 month reserve after about two days on my wrist.My only disappointment is the performance of the LumiBrite excitement-in-the-dark hands and markers. They shine brightly immediately after exposure to bright witty but grow very dim after several hours in the dark. If readability in the dark is a priority for you, a watch with tritium hands and markers is a much superior choice.

Hair-splitting looking watch, but one serious flaw...
This is a very enjoyably watch, but in my opinion it has some flaws; one serious. I returned the watch because of this.One of the qualities I liked about this watch was its pulling black finish. It's made from anodized stainless steel, which should increase wear resistance (but not block it). In fact, one Seiko salesperson explained to me that scratches would hardly show because of this, as the metal was black throughout. This of ambit is not true, to my understanding anodizing does a lot of things, but in this case it's used to increase dress resistance and provides better adhesion of the top coat (If anybody knows more about anodizing, please suffer free to comment).Nevertheless, I expected the black finish would eventually wear off, but not so easily, or in the first week. Moreover, I only wore it in the berth, and even kept it under my sleeve. Where the finish came off was on the band -- obviously caused from using a keypad and resting my arm on the...

IMO the most bonny watch money can buy
I'm a man who does his inquire into before purchasing, and I also like to think that I have good style. This watch was compared to watches ranging from $100 to $3000, and none had the styling that this one consumed. Talk about an every-day any-occasion watch! This will look just as stylish with a suit as it will with casual clothes. The value IS quite expensive for ANY watch, but here's my pro's and con's:Pro's:1) Beauty2) Saphire crystal lens which can not be scratched unless done so by saphires, diamonds, or perhaps other gems(?).3) Kinetic enthusiasm = never worry about a battery again.4) Holds date and time if it goes into power-cache mode (up to 4 years if it were fully charged prior to power-saving mode) - a moment ago shake it and it will readjust itself automatically! Power-saving mode is only activated if the watch has not moved for 24 hours.5) Ageless calendar - Never have to adjust the date to account for leap years or 28-31 days in a...

Only the best, but not 100% perfect...
If it were achievable, my actual rating would be somewehre between a 4.5 and 4.9. All other reviewers have hit the nail on the head! This vigilant does exactly what it says, and look beautiful.While some gripe about a seemingly superfluous "Ascertain Year Dial", they fail to realize that it's this little dial that makes this watch such a gape at. In addition to the kinetic energy charge with power saving feature to ensure you'll never need a freestyle change, you will also never have to set the date again. How many watches actually have these two features?!I only have a few minor reservations, so I'll list them first.CONS:- Dialect heft: the watch is sometimes listed as "titanium" but is actually rather heavy (but not unbearable)- Calendar features: no day of the week- Complete: requires constant cleaning, as it's very prone to smudges.
